CHEMUNG — The Waverly Rec. / Hemp Geek AAU Sports program is hosting its weeklong camp this week at the Chemung Elementary School outdoor courts, with 24 athletes in attendance.

All participants and coaches must have their temperatures checked prior to the start of camp each day, and all other mandated safety protocols are being follow, said a program spokesperson.

“The kids are enjoying themselves,” said the spokesperson. “It’s great to see them having fun, learning, and getting some interaction with other kids.”

Program director Reggie Hawkins is running the camp, with the assistance of “assistant coaches” Ryan Lamber, Sidney Tomasso, Joey Tomasso, and Paige Robinson — all Waverly High School basketball players.

The camp runs through Friday.
